Protect your knees!

Lunges and squats are a great way to increase leg strength, but you need to make sure you are practicing the correct form. When lunging or squatting, make sure your feet are far enough forward that when you perform your squat your knee(s) does not go passed a 90-degree angle. This will help protect your knees from any unwanted strains or injuries.
